Softball Game Preview: Leland Chargers vs. Leigh Longhorns

The Leland Chargers will take on the Leigh Longhorns at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Leland came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 18-2 to Gilroy. The matchup marked the Chargers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Leland saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sarah Baggott, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Another was Irene Kim, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Leigh was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against Branham, falling 9-1.

Leigh's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Leland, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-3.

Leland skirted past Leigh 9-7 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Does Leland have another victory up their sleeve, or will Leigh turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
