Volleyball Recap: Wooster Takes a Loss

Wooster was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Elko Indians. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Colts of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2022.

Wooster started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-22, 25-15, 25-19.

Their offense was headlined by Silvia Beaujour and London Lee, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Yaneth Santiago and her 14 assists. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Wooster's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Elko, they pushed their record up to 10-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Wooster and Elko will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Colts will square off against rival South Tahoe at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Elko is set to take on their familiar foe Spring Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
