Baseball Recap: Weston Ranch's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

Weston Ranch started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Venture Academy. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (4-3), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Dominik Makinano and Gerardo Ortega did some serious damage despite the final result: Makinano went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI, while Ortega scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Ortega has become a key player for Weston Ranch: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-3 otherwise. Anthony Arias was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.

The defeat snapped Weston Ranch's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-4 record. As for Venture Academy, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Weston Ranch didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-5 win against Ripon Christian on the 22nd. As for Venture Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 5-4 victory against River Islands on the 24th.
