River Hill won the last time they faced Long Reach and things went their way on Monday too. The Hawks skirted past the Lightning 4-2.

Annie Levine spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Erica Massie was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Aviana Sekerak was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

The victory got River Hill back to even at 6-6. As for Long Reach, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

River Hill and Long Reach could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings. The Hawks will challenge Mt. Hebron at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank disadvantage (126 vs. 28). Meanwhile, Long Reach (ranked 117th) will meet Glenelg (ranked 34th) at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
