Softball Game Preview: Ansonia Tigers vs. Houston Wildcats

The Ansonia Tigers will face off against the Houston Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither Ansonia nor Houston posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Ansonia's offense. They fell just short of Tri-County North by a score of 2-0 on Thursday. Tigers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Panthers since on Thursday.

Bre Walker spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.

Meanwhile, Houston also failed to score in their most recent game. They lost 6-0 to Russia on Thursday. The Wildcats just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Houston saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was LeeAnna Travis, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Houston's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Ansonia, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Ansonia skirted past Houston 5-3 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
