Softball Game Preview: Carrick Raiders vs. Westinghouse Bulldogs

The Carrick Raiders will challenge the Westinghouse Bulldogs at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Carrick's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.

If Carrick beats Westinghouse with 17 runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Raiders never let Perry Traditional Academy get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory on Thursday. Considering the Raiders have won four games by more than 11 runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Aubrey Czapko was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Jayda Rose was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Rose is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Bailey Wyland was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double.

Carrick kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Westinghouse fell victim to Taylor Allderdice and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Dragons, falling 20-0. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Carrick's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Westinghouse, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
