Basketball Recap: Boiling Springs Takes a Loss

Boiling Springs played a tough match on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Gaffney Indians 68-24. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Indians: they've now lost nine in a row.

Despite the loss, Boiling Springs saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Makenzie Kinard posted 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals. That was a full 58.3% of Boiling Springs' points, marking the seventh time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points.

Gaffney was led to victory by Korbyn Lydia and Shiriah Harris. Lydia went 7 for 12 en route to 19 points and five steals, while Harris almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards. That's the most steals Lydia has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Sarratt, who earned five points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Boiling Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Gaffney, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-1.

Boiling Springs has already played their next contest (against Dorman), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Gaffney didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 80-23 victory against Wade Hampton on the 24th.
