Preview: Linden Tigers vs. Plainfield Cardinals
Linden has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Plainfield Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Linden knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully the Cardinals likes a good challenge.
Last Tuesday, Linden faced the Minutemen in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Linden fell 62-55 to the Minutemen. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Meanwhile, Plainfield had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against Westfield by a score of 54-42. Given Plainfield's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 95th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Linden's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Plainfield, they pushed their record up to 12-6 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Linden against the Cardinals when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 80-51 win. Does Linden have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
