Football Game Preview: South Davidson Wildcats vs. Robbinsville Black Knights

The South Davidson Wildcats will venture away from home to square off against the Robbinsville Black Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Davidson's defense has only allowed 8.4 points per game this season, so Robbinsville's offense will have their work cut out for them.

South Davidson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They strolled past Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy with points to spare, taking the game 27-12. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Gage Underwood had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 183 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Those 183 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Underwood was just one part of a punishing run game: South Davidson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 253 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 192 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Robbinsville took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 54-7 win over East Columbus. The result was nothing new for the Black Knights, who have now won six matchups by 29 points or more so far this season.

Robbinsville's defense made their presence known, laying out Demetrius Dexter four times. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Robbinsville received some extra help from Mathew Phillips, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

South Davidson's record is now 11-1. As for Robbinsville, their record now sits at 9-3.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. South Davidson has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 286.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Robbinsville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 222.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
