Baseball Recap: Sonora Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

Sonora won the last time they faced Sunny Hills and things went their way on Friday too. The Raiders walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Lancers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.

Caleb Orr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Anthony Abad was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Ryan Lietzau also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Sonora's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Sunny Hills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-15.

Coming up, Sonora will face off against Crean Lutheran at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Raiders 2.2, the Saints 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Sunny Hills, they will take on Brea Olinda at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
