Basketball Game Preview: Montgomery Red Raiders vs. Neumann Regional Academy Golden Knights

Montgomery hasn't had much luck against Neumann Regional Academy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Montgomery Red Raiders will challenge the Neumann Regional Academy Golden Knights at 7:30 p.m. Montgomery will be strutting in after a win while Neumann Regional Academy will be coming in after a loss.

Montgomery is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Columbia Montour Vo-Tech: they outscored them in every quarter. Montgomery was the clear victor by a 54-33 margin over Columbia Montour Vo-Tech on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Neumann Regional Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They received a blow as they fell 66-47 to Northwest Area. While losing is never fun, the Golden Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 580th, while the Rangers are ranked 171st).

Montgomery will need focus on slowing down Andrew Walter, one of several Neumann Regional Academy players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daiton Thompson, who scored 14 points.

Montgomery is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Neumann Regional Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-9.

Montgomery skirted past Neumann Regional Academy 64-62 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Montgomery since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
