Softball Preview: Western Reserve Roughriders vs. Monroeville Eagles
For the second straight game, Western Reserve will face off against Monroeville. The Roughriders will challenge the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Western Reserve has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 4th.
Thursday just wasn't the day for Western Reserve's offense. They lost 10-0 to Monroeville on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that the Roughriders have lost by exactly ten runs.
For Monroeville's part, Veanna Helmstetter made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Helmstetter has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
