It was a proper cat-fight when Seton Catholic took on Battle Ground on Wednesday. The Cougars came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tigers, sneaking past 5-4. The win was familiar territory for the Cougars, who have now won six contests in a row.

Kolten Gesser looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Teddy Wieczorek, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5. He also put up a triple, which was his first of the season. Lucas Peterson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Seton Catholic pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Battle Ground, they moved to 6-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seton Catholic will welcome Kalama at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Chinooks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.29 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Battle Ground, they will host Camas at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
