Basketball Recap: Crescent Sets Scoring Season-High Against Walhalla

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Crescent). They snuck past the Walhalla Razorbacks with a 76-71 win on Thursday. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered a 50-40 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Crescent got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jas'Yiah Davis out in front who posted 22 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. The match was Davis' third in a row with at least ten points. Philip Deveaux was another key player, going 7 for 14 on his way to 18 points and eight assists.

Crescent smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive games.

Several Razorbacks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tyler Lusk, who went 7 of 15 en route to 21 points. The dominant performance gave Lusk a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jack Williams, who went 8 for 20 on his way to 20 points.

Crescent is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Walhalla, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-13.

Crescent wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 67-54 win against West-Oak on the 14th. Walhalla has also already played their next game, a 54-48 loss against Pendleton on the 14th.
