Softball Game Preview: Irvin Rockets vs. Santa Teresa Desert Warriors

The Irvin Rockets will face off against the Santa Teresa Desert Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with ten consecutive losses dating back to last season for Irvin and four for Santa Teresa dating back to last season.

Irvin came up short against El Paso on Tuesday, falling 21-1. The game marked the Rockets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Irvin saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrea Orrantia, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Aleena Flores also deserves some recognition as she stolen her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Santa Teresa unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 16-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ysleta on Tuesday.

Irvin's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Santa Teresa, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Irvin suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Santa Teresa when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can Irvin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
