Soccer Game Preview: Saint Francis vs. Bellarmine College Prep

Saint Francis and Bellarmine College Prep are an even 4-4-2 against one another since January of 2020, but likely not for long. The Saint Francis Lancers will head out to challenge the Bellarmine College Prep Bells at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Saint Francis turned things around against Junipero Serra on Wednesday. They won by a goal and slipped past the Padres 3-2. The Lancers better thank their lucky stars for the performance of Michael Scavotto, as he scored every single goal for his team.

Meanwhile, Bellarmine College Prep kept a clean sheet against Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Fightin' Irish by a score of 2-0. Given the Bells' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Fightin' Irish are ranked 519th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bellarmine College Prep pushed their record up to 5-1-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those three contests. As for Saint Francis, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.

Saint Francis was able to grind out a solid win over Bellarmine College Prep in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 2-0. Will Saint Francis repeat their success, or does Bellarmine College Prep have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
