Softball Recap: Bakersfield Christian Snags Seventh Victory in Last Nine Games

Bakersfield Christian barely beat Tehachapi the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Bakersfield Christian never let Tehachapi get on the board and left with a 6-0 win on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Anabell Hinojosa made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tia Nichols, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 13 games. Cailee Carr also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Bakersfield Christian is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. Tehachapi's loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

Coming up, Bakersfield Christian will head out on the road to challenge Central at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Tehachapi, they will take on Liberty at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
