Baseball Recap: Fairfax Has No Trouble Against North

Fairfax had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt North on Monday. The Stampede blew past the Mustangs 19-6. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-5 back in February.

Alexander Tovar was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Fairfax got a massive performance out of Isaiah Balderas, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave Balderas a new career-high. Armando Ramirez was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.

Fairfax always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Fairfax's record is now 7-8. As for North, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

Fairfax will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mustangs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
