Softball Game Preview: Montabella Mustangs vs. Vestaburg Wolverines

The Montabella Mustangs will take on the Vestaburg Wolverines at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Montabella has now lost 17 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 12.

Breckenridge hit Montabella with a seven-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs lost 12-2 to the Huskies.

Montabella saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addyson Strohl, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Vestaburg has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.66 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They came up short against Sacred Heart Academy, falling 12-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Wolverines were not able to get on the board.

Montabella's defeat dropped their record down to 2-19. As for Vestaburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 25-7.

Montabella might still be hurting after the 20-5 loss they got from Vestaburg in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
