Basketball Game Preview: Rivera Raiders vs. Pace Vikings

The Rivera Raiders will face off against the Pace Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rivera will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Pace on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Donna North out of the water with a 64-14 final score. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 768th, while the Chiefs are ranked 1571st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rivera better keep an eye on Bre Nelson. She was instrumental in Pace's win, dropping a double-double with 22 points and 11 boards. Nelson also grabbed seven steals, which is notable because the Vikings are 10-2 when she posts at least five steals, but 8-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Andrea Salgado, who posted six points and eight steals.

Pace smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 31 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Pace's win bumped their record up to 18-12. As for Rivera, their victory bumped their record up to 16-12.

Rivera might still be hurting after the 46-25 loss they got from Pace in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Nelson, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
