Football Game Preview: Southridge Suns vs. Sageview Lobos + Official Tickets

The Southridge Suns will head out on the road to take on the Sageview Lobos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Southridge will be strutting in after a victory while Sageview will be coming in after a defeat.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Southridge and Hanford had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Suns claimed a resounding 37-10 win over the Falcons. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-0.

It was another big night for Gabe Borisch, who rushed for 217 yards and three scores while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. He is becoming a predictor of Southridge's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 0-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Tayton Jackman, who gained 164 total yards and a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Southridge was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 388 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 150 rushing yards in five consecutive matchups.

Southridge's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: DeMario Cruz, Shaun Bockman Jr., and Toa Haertling, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Hanford's side was Jacob Korotkov, who made nine total tackles (3.0 for loss) and snagged an interception.

Meanwhile, Sageview played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 48-14 loss at the hands of Walla Walla. That's two games in a row now that the Lobos have lost by exactly 34 points.

Sageview's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Southridge, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
