Softball Game Preview: Redwood Rangers vs. Hanford West Huskies

Redwood is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Hanford West is on a four-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. Redwood will host Hanford West at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Redwood's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Hanford West's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Hanford West's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Redwood hadn't allowed a single run the last four times they've hit the field. Redwood never let Clovis North get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Rangers, who have now won three matches by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Jackie Ramirez's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Rayah Rodriguez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiera Ramirez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Hanford West sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over Mission Oak on Monday.

Rylan Montoya spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. Those hits were her first of the season.

At the plate, Karmen Vazquez was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Kennidy Perryman was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Redwood has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-3-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. Hanford West's win bumped their record up to 8-1.
