Baseball Recap: West Wendover Snags Eighth Win in Last Nine Games

West Wendover won the last time they faced Incline and things went their way on Friday too. The Wolverines were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Highlanders. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

Aidien Rodriguez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 15 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adrian Perez, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Markus Gonzalez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

West Wendover is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Incline, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.

West Wendover will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Highlanders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
