Soccer Game Preview: Algonquin Regional vs. Marlborough

The Algonquin Regional Titans will head out to challenge the Marlborough Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Algonquin Regional's last seven matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Thursday, Algonquin Regional sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Shrewsbury. The victory continues a trend for Algonquin Regional in their matchups with Shrewsbury: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Marlborough didn't have quite enough to beat Wachusett Regional on Thursday and fell 3-2. While losing is never fun, Marlborough can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts soccer rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Wachusett Regional are ranked 105th).

The win got Algonquin Regional back to even at 4-4-6. As for Marlborough, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6-2.

Algonquin Regional was able to grind out a solid victory over Marlborough in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
