Basketball Game Preview: Pleasanton Eagles vs. Uvalde Coyotes/Lobos (for girls)

The Pleasanton Eagles will face off against the Uvalde Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Pleasanton has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since November 25.

Pleasanton is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Floresville on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Pleasanton took a blow against Floresville, falling 55-22. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1051st, while the Tigers/Jaguars are ranked 515th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Uvalde, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 50-43 win over Carrizo Springs on Tuesday.

Uvalde's win came from a few key players Pleasanton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Lola Pose, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalia Cabralez, who put up 13 points.

Uvalde has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 11-14 record this season. As for Pleasanton, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.

Pleasanton didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Uvalde in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 33-28 victory. Will Pleasanton repeat their success, or does Uvalde have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
