Baseball Game Preview: South Adams Starfires vs. Parkway Panthers

The South Adams Starfires will face off against the Parkway Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Southern Wells hit South Adams with a four-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Starfires took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders. The Starfires have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Derek Weaver put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Weaver was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.

Weaver wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Derek McKean, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Brendon Sprunger also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Parkway lost 13-6 to Wapakoneta on Monday. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly seven runs.

Jacoby Triplett and Perry Schwieterman stepped up to the plate in a big way. Triplett went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Schwieterman went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Jack Yoder, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Parkway dropped their record down to 4-6 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for South Adams, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

South Adams beat Parkway 5-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Starfires repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
