Basketball Recap: Newbury Park Comes Up Short

Newbury Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Oaks Christian Lions and fell 78-40. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 707th, while the Lions are ranked 53rd).

Newbury Park's loss dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Oaks Christian, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-5.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Newbury Park Panthers challenge the Oaks Christian Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Oaks Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests. As for they, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 77-61 win against Canyon on the 25th.
