Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Emery's Fifth in Last Six Outings

With a playoff win on the line, Emery rose to the challenge on Friday. They never let the Richfield Wildcats get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by six runs or more this season.

Emery let Bailey Luke and TaiLynn Minchey run wild. Luke went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Minchey went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Minchey has posted since back in March. Katelyn Nielson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Emery kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.

Emery has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 20-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Richfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-18.

Coming up, Emery will face off against South Summit at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season. Richfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
