Soccer Game Preview: Santee vs. Chavez

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Santee challenge the Chavez at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.

Santee is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They won by a goal and slipped past Diego Rivera 5-4. The win was familiar territory for the Falcons, who have now won five games in a row.

Meanwhile, Chavez waltzed into their match on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Vipers. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 231st in California, while the Vipers are ranked 520th in California), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eduardo Sicaja was the driving force of Chavez's attack as he scored both of Chavez's goals, bringing his season total up to 35 goals.

Santee's record now sits at 10-4. As for Chavez, their record now sits at 16-4.

Santee skirted past Chavez 1-0 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Santee since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
