Softball Recap: Marsh Valley Eagles vs. Snake River Panthers
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marsh Valley). They blew past the Snake River Panthers 17-2 on Wednesday. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Lydia Howell was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with five RBI and one run. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Nya Call and Madison Foster did most of the damage at the plate: Call scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Foster scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Foster also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Olivia Campbell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
Marsh Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Snake River only managed three hits.
