It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the King's Academy Lions had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Somerset Academy - Canyons at home to the tune of 49-7. Considering King's Academy has won six contests by more than 25 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
When it comes to explaining why Somerset Academy - Canyons lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tristian Johnson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last seven games he's played.
King's Academy's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Somerset Academy - Canyons, they bumped their record down to 7-4 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
King's Academy will square off against American Heritage at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. American Heritage is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games. Somerset Academy - Canyons does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
