Baseball Recap: Woodrow Wilson Drops Season-High Score on Bluefield

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Woodrow Wilson). Everything went their way against the Bluefield Beavers on Tuesday as they made off with a 22-3 win. Considering the Flying Eagles have won four contests by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Gage Price was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. Price was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, Maddex Sims was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Evan Tyree also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Woodrow Wilson is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Bluefield, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Looking ahead, Woodrow Wilson will take on Tazewell in a tournament on Thursday. As for Bluefield, they will take on James Monroe at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
