Nelson dropped their record down to 12-10 on Friday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Central Catholic Rams. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Central Catholic this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-7 back in April.
Ellie Nix made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run.
As for Central Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games.
On Central Catholic's side, Jaspen Lauderback-Smith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Lauderback-Smith was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Grace Schellinkhout was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ella Schellinkhout, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Central Catholic is set to challenge their familiar foe Gresham at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
