Basketball Game Preview: McDonogh Eagles vs. Calvert Hall Cardinals

The McDonogh Eagles will take on the Calvert Hall Cardinals in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

McDonogh is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maryland's top teams: Our Lady of Mount Carmel, who was ranked sixth at the time (McDonogh was ranked 25th). McDonogh was dealt a 58-31 loss at the hands of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on Wednesday. The matchup marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Calvert Hall's undefeated season came to an end after three games last Wednesday. They fell just short of Concordia Prep by a score of 52-50. The loss was the Cardinals' first of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Calvert Hall fell to 3-1. As for McDonogh, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

McDonogh and Calvert Hall were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in January, but McDonogh came up empty-handed after a 50-49 loss. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Calvert Hall's Brendan Johnson, who went 9 of 17 en route to 30 points.
