Baseball Game Preview: Franklin Knights vs. Titusville Rockets

The Franklin Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Titusville Rockets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Franklin has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight defeats, while Titusville will come in with eight straight wins.

On Wednesday, Franklin came up short against Rocky Grove and fell 10-7.

Evan Turner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Luke Marsteller also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

While Titusville didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They had just enough and edged out Grove City 12-11. That's two games straight that the Rockets have won by just one run.

Kameron Mong made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mong was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Ian McDonald was excellent, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

Titusville's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Franklin, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Franklin suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Titusville in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
