Softball Game Preview: Sandalwood Saints vs. Menendez Falcons

The Sandalwood Saints will venture away from home to square off against the Menendez Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Sandalwood's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.

On Wednesday, Sandalwood beat Wolfson 12-8.

Madison Seprish and Lovie Bautista did most of the damage at the plate: Seprish scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while Bautista scored two runs while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs Bautista has posted over her last eight games. Another player making a difference was Madison Heath, who scored two runs.

Sandalwood hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Menendez came up short against Bishop Kenny on Tuesday and fell 13-9.

Ava Carter was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Faust, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Sandalwood has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Menendez, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Sandalwood skirted past Menendez 3-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Saints since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
