Volleyball Recap: Lake Cormorant Extends Winning Streak to Five

Lake Cormorant entered their tilt with South Panola on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Tigers 3-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Lake Cormorant also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Lake Cormorant took every set by at least 18 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-5, 25-7, 25-7.

Lake Cormorant can attribute much of their success to Emily Huerta, who had eight digs and four aces. Those four aces gave Huerta a new career-high.

Huerta wasn't the only good server: Lake Cormorant was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 29 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Lake Cormorant's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for South Panola, their loss was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2.

Coming up, Lake Cormorant will face off against Grenada at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Panola, they will head out on the road to take on Senatobia at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
