Basketball Game Preview: Elkhorn South Storm vs. Omaha Westside Warriors

Elkhorn South is 1-7 against Omaha Westside since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Elkhorn South Storm just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Omaha Westside Warriors at 5:15 p.m.

Elkhorn South is headed into Saturday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They fell 55-42 to Grand Island.

Meanwhile, Omaha Westside waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 61-54 victory over the Spartans. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Spartans are ranked 107th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Omaha Westside found their leader in freshman Lee Robinson, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 15 points. Robinson is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Emre Gedik was another key player, going 6-for-11 on his way to 15 points.

Omaha Westside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln East only six offensive boards.

Omaha Westside pushed their record up to 20-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Elkhorn South, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-15.

Things could have been worse for Elkhorn South, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took an 85-69 loss to Omaha Westside when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Elkhorn South avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
