Baseball Game Preview: Port Barre Red Devils vs. Pine Prairie Panthers

The Port Barre Red Devils will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Pine Prairie Panthers at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Port Barre will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Ascension Episcopal, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Red Devils were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over Ascension Episcopal on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Red Devils considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Bailey Rideaux was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Smith, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, Pine Prairie gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Bunkie.

Port Barre couldn't quite finish off Pine Prairie when the teams last played back in February of 2025 and fell 5-3. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
