Softball Recap: Bardstown Comes Up Short

Bardstown extended their losing streak to 12 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-13. They lost 16-0 to the Caverna Colonels. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

As for Caverna, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-12. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

For Caverna's part, the result came thanks to Adreana Salvador's shutout, as she gave up just two hits. Salvador has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jayanah Nuckols was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Bethel, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bardstown will welcome Metcalfe County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Caverna, they will be playing at home against Hart County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Colonels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season.
