Baseball Recap: East River Triumphs

East River won against Boone last Wednesday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. East River never let the Astronaut War Eagles get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the War Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Chance Griffin looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because East River is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Dominic Diorio was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alejandro Medina, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

East River's record now sits at 9-7. As for Astronaut, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when East River Falcons take on Master's Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East River's pitchers better be ready for this one: Master's Academy has averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Astronaut, they will face off against Cocoa Beach at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
