Softball Recap: Glenbard West Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Glenbard West hadn't done well against Downers Grove South recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Hilltoppers walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Mustangs. This was payback for the Hilltoppers, who suffered a 13-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Olivia Salerno spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Alexa Trybus was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Bobroff, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Glenbard West's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 18-7. As for Downers Grove South, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season.

Glenbard West will head out to challenge Downers Grove North at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Downers Grove South, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lincoln-Way Central at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Knights will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight.
