Baseball Recap: San Gorgonio Comes Up Short

San Gorgonio came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Carter Lions, falling 16-8. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Edgar Soto was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Those hits were his first of the season. Jaycob Atkins was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

San Gorgonio's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Carter, their record is now 3-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. San Gorgonio will host Grand Terrace at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Titans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Carter, they will be playing at home against Jurupa Hills at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
