Softball Recap: Middleton Now 10-1 over Last 11 Games

Middleton had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Caldwell on Friday. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Cougars. Considering the Vikings have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Middleton got a great performance from Mekenna Trimmer as she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Trimmer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kenadi Whitlow, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie Stafford, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Middleton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Caldwell, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Coincidentally, Middleton and Caldwell will both be playing Nampa the next time they take the field. The Cougars will head out to face the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Vikings will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
