Basketball Game Preview: Red Bud Musketeers vs. Freeburg Midgets

Red Bud is 0-10 against Freeburg since January of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Red Bud Musketeers will be playing at home against the Freeburg Midgets at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Friday, 2025 welcomed Red Bud with a 55-34 loss courtesy of Carlyle. The game marked the Musketeers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, Freeburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 65-36 loss at the hands of Columbia. While losing is never fun, the Midgets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 441st, while the Eagles are ranked 72nd).

Red Bud will need focus on slowing down Matt Pluff, one of several Freeburg players who made an impact when they last played. He posted nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Fritz, who put up six points.

Freeburg's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Red Bud, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.

Red Bud couldn't quite finish off Freeburg in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 and fell 58-56. Thankfully for Red Bud, Cole Stuart (who went 8 of 16 on his way to 29 points in addition to five assists and three steals) won't be suiting up this time.
