Volleyball Recap: Excelsior Classical Academy Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Excelsior Classical Academy lost against Oxford Prep back in August, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Flying Lions took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Griffins. While the Flying Lions didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Griffins 25-19 in the first set.

Excelsior Classical Academy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-11, 27-25, 25-20.

Oxford Prep can attribute much of their success to Sara Roberson, who had eight aces and four digs. Those eight aces gave Roberson a new career-high.

Excelsior Classical Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for Oxford Prep, their record is now 7-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Excelsior Classical Academy will challenge Triangle Math & Science at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Oxford Prep, they will face off against Henderson Collegiate at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
