Softball Recap: Chittenango Beats Canastota for Their Fourth Straight Win

Chittenango came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Canastota Red Raiders 13-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bears also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Lauren Machan made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Machan was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Chittenango got a massive performance out of Alivia Cavotta, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave Cavotta a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of MacKenna Palko, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Chittenango's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Canastota, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chittenango will welcome Oneida at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Canastota, they will host Vernon-Verona-Sherrill at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
