Baseball Recap: O'donnell Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

O'Donnell came out on top against Borden County on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run second inning. The Eagles put the hurt on the Coyotes with a sharp 14-4 win. Considering the Eagles have won eight matches by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Martin Baeza made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Baeza was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

In other batting news, O'Donnell got a massive performance out of Roman Castro, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Castro is becoming a predictor of the Eagles' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4-1 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Bransen Hancock, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

O'Donnell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in three consecutive contests.

O'Donnell pushed their record up to 10-4-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for Borden County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8-1.

O'Donnell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Borden County, they will square off against Forsan at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
