Softball Recap: Potts Camp Has No Trouble Against Biggersville

Potts Camp barely beat Biggersville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Potts Camp Cardinals blew past the Biggersville Lions 19-2 on Monday. That looming 19-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cardinals yet this season.

Alyssa Clifton made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Lexi Shaw and Charlie Holmes did most of the damage at the plate: Shaw scored three runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Holmes scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave Shaw a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Myleigh Melton, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Potts Camp was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Potts Camp's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Biggersville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Potts Camp will venture away from home to take on Hickory Flat at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Biggersville, they will challenge Thrasher at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
