Basketball Recap: Edmondson-Westside Piles Up the Points Against Southwestern

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Edmondson-Westside). They blew past the Southwestern Sabers 73-19 on Thursday. The Red Storm have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 36 points or more this season.

Edmondson-Westside got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Makenzie Foreman out in front who dropped a triple-double on 19 points, ten rebounds, and ten assists. Foreman's evening made it nine games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabrielle H, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards.

Edmondson-Westside's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.6 points per game. As for Southwestern, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Edmondson-Westside will challenge Patterson at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southwestern, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Academy for College and Career Exploration at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
